“Listening to the Lord” is about exploring the Bible and listening for God. I use it to share various “gleanings from Scripture” resulting from my study and prayer.
Its purpose is to help you learn something about the unique written source handed down to us by the bishops and teachers of the Catholic tradition, and I hope it encourages you to use the Bible as a daily part of your prayer life, a way to “listen” to the Lord as He calls you and guides you on your journey with Him.
I read Scripture daily–the Mass readings, readings used in morning and evening prayer, and reading on my own that takes me through the entire Bible over time. I consult commentaries that feed into my understanding of Scripture. It aids me in my clumsy-enough attempts to follow Christ.
*The emailed “Sunday Note” includes links to articles on science, history, literature, curiosities, etc., that I find challenging, interesting, or amusing. A poem or painting or photo may be included, as well as a cartoon. The Sunday Note is addressed, as it began many years ago, to my children, with the 125+ other email addresses hidden from everyone in the BCC line. If you would like to try it, drop me a note at:
Jim McCullough 201 S. ELAM AVE GREENSBORO NC 27403-1414
The Sunday Note goes on hiatus over some holidays, for special family gatherings, and due to other curve balls of retirement life. You are, of course, free to drop the Sunday Note at any time simply by emailing me back when it is sent to you.

Jim McCullough is a past Director of Religious Education of Our Lady of Grace Church, Greensboro, NC. He is not a Scripture scholar, but he has spent 50 years studying the Bible, exploring the use of Scripture by the Church Fathers, and wrestling with works of modern scholarship. Such study fed his teaching as our parish RCIA team prepared some 900+ people to enter the Catholic Church. Now retired, he and Karen enjoy traveling to and with their adult children and eight grandchildren, with outposts currently in Greensboro, Boston, Beaufort (North Carolina coast) Hythe, England, and South Bend, Indiana.
