Verses 2 and 3 from Psalm 43:
…you, O God, are my strength.
Why do you keep me so far away?
Why must I go about in mourning,
with the enemy oppressing me?
Send forth your light and your fidelity;
they shall lead me on
And bring me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling-place.
On the one hand, we know, as Christians, that God (and nothing else, ultimately) is our strength. On the other hand, 20 times a day He seems far away as we struggle along with the tasks set before us. At just those times we need to remember that God has sent forth his light and fidelity, that is, Christ his Son. Christ is always within us and beside us as we go through this hour, this next difficult step up the holy mountain. Remember, and thank him!
